Proud of What I Did

Since the beginning of my prep year I have been studying hard and I will continue to study hard. So far this year I have done so many things which I am proud of like writing a short story, designing my own box, and qualifying to next rounds in basketball. I am proud of designing my own box because I think I did it successfully and when I was doing my box I was not sure about what should I do with that. As the time went I had thoughts about what should I do and by making my thoughts come real I did my own box and that is why I am proud of it. Outside of school I am playing basketball and it makes feel relaxed. I am very pleased about playing basketball because it gives me a chance to decrease my stress but I would rather play my matches on weekends because when we play our matches on school days I am missing my classes so it puts me in a hard situation and it is hard to catch up what my friends did in class. Anyway,  after three matches we succeed to qualify to next rounds by getting the second place in our group. I am very proud of it because last year when I was playing in another team I was not able to play in the next rounds. We have three more matches in this group and I hope we will succeed in this stage too. I am sure that the best thing I have done so far is writing my own story. In writing classes we had an assignment to write our own stories but I didn’t look at it like an assignment. I had fun while I was writing my story and maybe that is why I didn’t understand how fast the time went. In the beginning of that process I had hard times thinking about my subject and characters which made me desperate but as the time went I have done my story and I am really proud of it. It made me prouder than the other ones because this was the first time I wrote a short story. I have succeed in basketball third times and I did a box twice but firsts are always special. I would like to thank all my teachers who helped me be successful.

Short Story Unit Reflection

In our writing classes we worked on short stories and I can briefly tell that I had fun when I was learning. If I had a chance to change something I wouldn’t change anything. Everything was perfect: discussions, reading stories and writing stories.

Most important lessons I learned from this unit are you can write story with having fun and by getting help from the other students you can improve your story or your assignments. Our friends and teachers can help us achieve to our goal quicker than we plan.

During this unit we read lots of stories which helped us write our own story. Reading The Tell-Tale Heart, The Lottery, The Big Snit and The Fall of a City which all written by great authors and examining great authors’ works made us even better. Stories were all so thrilling that we had fun while reading them.

After we read all of the stories, we started writing our own stories. While I was writing my story our book ‘NaNo WriMo’ helped me write a qualified and long story. While I was writing my story I understood that writing story is more fun that I thought. I would like to thank to our teacher Ms. St Clair for giving as such a useful assignment like this.

The Fall of a City Response

I think that this story tries to say something to us. In the story the little boy thinks he runs an empire but in the reality he is just playing with paper dolls. I think that part represents the power of imagination. Because of his paper dolls he spends all his time in the roof. After his uncle discovers that he is playing with paper dolls he makes fun of him and because he doesn’t like to get humiliated he gets angry and he destroys his kingdom (His paper dolls) .In my opinion this represents the death of imagination and I also think all of the story was about creativity.
